We are a community of caring committed to creating an exceptional experience for our students that sets us apart from others as the national public honors college. We have an assessment cycle which informs our work and provides a regular assessment of our efforts to meet the goals of our strategic plan. As a division we also recognize we must stay relevant by being informed of the issues facing students and be creative through regular workshops and meetings to hone our skills and knowledge. We will accomplish these goals by hosting staff brown bag discussions, partnering with all departments on professional development/leadership training, and hosting speakers in the field.

Community-Based Learning and Service
The Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (OCOE) enriches campus and community life by fostering collaboration between SMCM students and the community beyond our campus borders. The OCOE supports community-based learning by connecting students with service opportunities that align with their academic and personal interests, working with faculty, staff, and community partners to develop community-engaged curriculum and co-curricular learning experiences, and promoting civic engagement through participation in democratic processes and public policy-making.
